The machine tool industry is a strategic industry related to the national economy, serving as the processing mother machine of the equipment manufacturing industry and a key piece of equipment for processing and manufacturing. Almost all metal cutting and forming processes require the use of machine tools.
As the "mother of industry," machine tools symbolize the level of a country's manufacturing industry. CNC machine tools were invented by American inventor John Parsons in the last century. With the development of electronic information technology, the global machine tool industry has entered an era of mechatronics centered on digital manufacturing technology, with CNC machine tools being one of the representative products. CNC machine tools are high-efficiency automated machine tools equipped with program control systems, capable of effectively solving the processing problems of complex, precise, small-batch, and diverse parts, representing the development direction of modern machine tool control technology.
With strong support from national policies, China's machine tool industry has developed rapidly, becoming the world's largest consumer and importer of machine tools for several consecutive years. The demand for machine tools continues to increase, and the total output value of the machine tool industry is also rising. In 2016, China led the world again with a machine tool consumption of 27.5 billion USD. However, due to its late start, China's machine tool industry still has a significant gap compared to developed Western countries, which also indicates that there is enormous development potential in the Chinese machine tool industry. In the future, with the expansion of production scales in the automotive and parts, aerospace, molds, railway transportation equipment, construction machinery, and other manufacturing industries, as well as the trend of global industrial transfer, the strong demand for multi-level machine tool products in related industries will further promote the rapid growth of China's metal cutting machine tool manufacturing industry. In terms of policy, the Chinese government has listed the development of large, precise, high-speed CNC equipment and functional components in the metal cutting machine tool industry as one of the important revitalization goals, which will also facilitate the rapid development of the industry.
